Couples & Marriage Counselling in North Vancouver
Every relationship goes through seasons of distance, conflict or hurt. Maybe the same argument keeps repeating. Maybe you feel more like roommates than partners. Or perhaps trust has been broken and you do not know the way back.
Whatever brings you here, reaching out is a sign of commitment, not failure. I offer couples and marriage counselling in North Vancouver, and online for couples anywhere in BC.
How couples counselling helps
Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right. It is about understanding the cycle you are both caught in — the pursue-and-withdraw, the criticism-and-defensiveness — and learning to step out of it together.
In sessions you will slow down the moments that usually escalate, hear what sits underneath your partner’s reactions, and rebuild the connection conflict has worn down. Couples come for communication breakdown, recurring conflict, rebuilding after a betrayal, parenting differences, intimacy concerns, or simply to strengthen a good relationship before problems take root.
My approach
I work primarily from Emotionally Focused Therapy, one of the most extensively researched approaches to couples work, alongside attachment-based understanding of how each of you learned to connect. EFT identifies the negative cycle driving disconnection and the needs underneath it, so you can reach for each other again.

What to expect
Sessions are 50 minutes at $160, in person at my North Vancouver office on West 17th Street or by secure video anywhere in British Columbia. Many extended health plans reimburse counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor, and detailed receipts are provided for every session.
Common questions
Do both partners need to attend every session?
Ideally yes — EFT works with the relationship itself, so joint sessions are the core of the work. Occasionally an individual session with each partner helps me understand your perspectives, and we would discuss that together first.
What if my partner is reluctant?
Very common. A free 15-minute consultation is a low-pressure way for a hesitant partner to ask questions and get a feel for the process before committing to anything.
Is this covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans reimburse sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Check that your plan lists "RCC" specifically, as some cover psychologists only. I don’t offer direct billing, but I provide detailed receipts so you can claim.
