ADHD Counselling in North Vancouver
Living with ADHD often means years of being told to try harder at things that come easily to everyone else, and quietly concluding something is wrong with you.
I hold an ADHD certification and offer counselling for adults and young people in North Vancouver, and online across BC.
How ADHD counselling helps
Counselling is not a substitute for assessment or medication, and it is not about fixing how your brain works. It is about understanding it, and building a life that fits it rather than fighting it.
A lot of the work is emotional rather than organisational: the frustration, the shame that builds after years of missed deadlines, and the effect on relationships and self-worth. The practical strategies land better once that is addressed.
My approach
I combine psychoeducation with CBT-informed strategies for executive function, mindfulness-based work for regulation, and IFS-informed work for the self-criticism that so often comes alongside.

Common questions
Can you diagnose ADHD?
No. Diagnosis is done by a physician, psychiatrist or psychologist. I work with people who are diagnosed, waiting for assessment, or exploring whether it fits — and can point you toward assessment options.
Do I need to be medicated to benefit?
Not at all. Counselling works alongside medication for some people and independently for others. That decision sits between you and your doctor.
Is this covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans reimburse sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Check that your plan lists "RCC" specifically, as some cover psychologists only. I don’t offer direct billing, but I provide detailed receipts so you can claim.
