Trauma Counselling in North Vancouver

Trauma does not stay in the past. It shows up as reactions that feel out of proportion, as numbness, as difficulty trusting, or as a body that stays on alert long after the danger has gone.

I offer trauma counselling in North Vancouver and online across BC, at a pace you set.

How trauma counselling helps

The first work is safety — in the room, and in your own nervous system. Nothing is rushed and nothing is forced. You will never be asked to recount more than you want to.

From there we work on understanding how you adapted, easing the responses that no longer serve you, and gradually loosening the grip the past has on the present.

My approach

I hold an EFT trauma certification and draw on Internal Family Systems to meet protective parts of you with respect rather than resistance, alongside mindfulness-based work for regulation. This is trauma-informed practice throughout, meaning pacing and choice stay with you.

Who this is for

  • Single-incident trauma or accidents
  • Childhood experiences still affecting you now
  • Relational trauma and its effect on trust
  • Feeling constantly on alert, or shut down
  • Trauma surfacing during a life transition
  • Supporting a partner or family member through trauma

What to expect

Sessions are 50 minutes at $160, in person at my North Vancouver office on West 17th Street or by secure video anywhere in British Columbia. Many extended health plans reimburse counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor, and detailed receipts are provided for every session.

Common questions

Will I have to talk about what happened?

Only as much as you choose, and only when you are ready. A great deal of useful trauma work happens without detailed retelling, and pacing is always yours to set.

What if I get overwhelmed in a session?

We build regulation skills before we go anywhere difficult, and we stop and settle whenever needed. Feeling overwhelmed is information, not failure.

Is this covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans reimburse sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Check that your plan lists "RCC" specifically, as some cover psychologists only. I don’t offer direct billing, but I provide detailed receipts so you can claim.
