Anxiety Counselling in North Vancouver

Anxiety has a way of shrinking your life. The racing thoughts at 3am, the tight chest before meetings, the constant what-ifs that never resolve, the things you have quietly stopped doing to avoid the discomfort.

If worry has started making your decisions for you, counselling can help you take that ground back. I offer anxiety counselling for adults and young people in North Vancouver, and online anywhere in BC.

How anxiety counselling helps

The work happens on two levels. First, practical relief: evidence-based tools to settle your nervous system, interrupt spirals of worry, and face avoided situations gradually and safely.

Second, deeper understanding: where the anxiety comes from, what it is trying to protect you from, and how to relate to it differently so it loosens its grip long-term. Not just symptom management, but real change.

My approach

I integrate mindfulness-based stress reduction, which teaches the body to settle rather than brace, with CBT for the thought patterns that keep worry running, and attachment-based and IFS-informed work to understand the anxious part of you with curiosity rather than frustration.

Common questions

How long does anxiety counselling take?

It varies with how long the anxiety has been present and what drives it. Many clients feel meaningful relief within six to twelve sessions, and we review progress regularly so the work stays focused on your goals.

Can we meet online instead?

Yes. Secure video sessions are available anywhere in British Columbia and work just as well as meeting in person for most concerns. Some clients mix the two depending on the week.

Is this covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans reimburse sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Check that your plan lists "RCC" specifically, as some cover psychologists only. I don’t offer direct billing, but I provide detailed receipts so you can claim.
